Known the world over for its rich history and celebrated
Civil War Battlefield, the City of Vicksburg offers numerous
free activities for event attendees.
Vicksburg National Military Park
- A treasure that must be experienced, this federally
maintained landmark can be taken in via a 16-mile, self-guided
driving tour. Offering a stirring glimpse back at this nation's
tumultuous past, the tour begins at the Visitors Center, where
life-sized exhibits and artifacts from the Siege of Vicksburg
are on display. An 18 minute film which recounts the campaign
is shown on the hour and half-hour. You may also stop in at
the Cairo Museum, which features its name sake, an iron clad
ship recovered from the depths of the mighty Mississippi.
Museums - A City steeped
in tradition, Vicksburg boasts a wealth of interesting museums,
including The Old Court House Museum-Eva W. Davis Memorial,
the Southern Cultural Heritage Complex, the Biedenharn Museum
of Coca-Cola® Memorabilia, Yesterday's Children Antique Doll
and Toy Museum, the Gray & Blue Naval Museum, The Jacqueline
House African American Museum and the Great Animal Adventures
Children's Museum.
Historic Homes - Perhaps
Vicksburg's most coveted attractions are its many beautiful,
